Publication Ethics
1. General Principles
Damodar Gabeshana Patrika is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics. It expects all stakeholders—authors, editors, peer reviewers, and publishers—to adhere to rigorous ethical behavior at every stage of the publishing lifecycle. Unethical publication practices, academic misconduct, and fraudulent data will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
2. Duties and Responsibilities of Authors
- Originality and Attribution: Authors must submit entirely original work. Any text, ideas, figures, or data taken from other sources must be clearly quoted and cited.
- Plagiarism and AI Usage:
- Plagiarism in any form (including direct copying, paraphrasing without citation, and self-plagiarism) is strictly prohibited. Submissions with a similarity index above 10% will be rejected.
- If Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools or Large Language Models (LLMs) are used for data collection, translation assistance, or language editing, their usage must be transparently declared in the methodology or acknowledgments. AI cannot be listed as an author.
- Concurrent Submissions: Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously is considered unethical and will lead to an immediate rejection.
- Reporting Errors Post-Publication: If an author discovers a significant factual or calculation error in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the journal editor to retract or correct the article.
3. Duties and Responsibilities of Reviewers
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Reviewers assist editors in making informed publishing decisions and help authors improve their scholarship through constructive, unbiased critique.
- Confidentiality: Any manuscript received for review must be treated as a confidential document. It must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal or institutional research without explicit written permission from the editor.
- Objectivity and Constructiveness: Reviews must be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Comments should be supported by clear reasoning and academic evidence.
- Alertness to Misconduct: Reviewers should notify the handling editor if they identify substantial similarities between the manuscript and any previously published work, uncredited sources, or potential data manipulation.
4. Duties and Responsibilities of Editors
- Impartiality and Fair Play: Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on their intellectual and academic merit, without regard to the author’s race, caste, gender, religion, ethnic origin, nationality, institutional affiliation, or political philosophy.
- Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, designated peer reviewers, and the publisher.
- Integrity of the Blind Review Process: Editors must ensure all author-identifying details and document metadata are stripped before sending manuscripts to reviewers to maintain the integrity of the double-blind review.
- Submissions by Editorial Members: Articles submitted by editorial board members must be handled independently by an alternate senior editor, with total blinding to avoid editorial favoritism.
5. Policies on Academic Misconduct, Corrections, and Retractions
The journal takes allegations of academic misconduct seriously and investigates them following COPE guidelines.
Misconduct Handling
- In cases of suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, gift/ghost authorship, or copyright infringement, the editorial board will request a formal written explanation from the author.
- If misconduct is confirmed, the manuscript will be rejected immediately or, if already published, subjected to formal retraction. The author’s institution may also be informed.
Corrections and Retractions
- Corrigendum / Erratum: Minor unintentional errors (e.g., misprinted numbers, typographic errors, omission of an acknowledgment) will be corrected via a published correction notice linked to the original article.
6. Copyright, Open Access, and Licensing
- Access Model: To ensure wide dissemination of research, Damodar Gabeshana Patrika operates as an Open Access journal, making scholarly articles freely accessible to researchers, teachers, and communities.
Author Rights: Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication.
